Course Overview
In the United States, there are more than 38 million binge drinkers, almost 25 million illegal drug users, and over 6 million people abusing prescription medications. This health and safety training course is geared towards managers and supervisors, and explains the laws specific to substance abuse in the workplace. This course illustrates how people with substance abuse problems bring serious issues to the workplace. These include decreased productivity, a hostile work environment, damage to the company’s reputation, and unsafe working conditions. Under OSHA’s General Duty Clause employers have a responsibility to maintain a work environment free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause serious injury or fatalities. Managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring workers do not pose a danger to themselves or others. Viewers also learn how to recognize substance abuse, how to educate and use testing when handling substance abuse issues, how to create a drug and alcohol-free workplace, and other related matters. Watch this training course to learn your role as a manager or supervisor in creating a safe and health workplace.
