Overview

This training course teaches workers how to recognize the presence of hazards and how to take measures to protect themselves when they will be working in a permit required confined space. OSHA has defined certain types of work areas by the term Confined Spaces. Permit required confined spaces are work environments considered to pose a risk of hazards, such as pits, silos, tanks, pipes, and vessels large enough to enter and perform work but not designed for continuous occupancy.

There are different types of risks involved with confined spaces. These include but are not limited to; atmospheric hazards, mechanical or electrical hazards, engulfment hazards, and design hazards. Identifying the risk is the first step to limiting the potential for injury when working in a confined space.

Working in or around a permit required confined space is a required part of many jobs. Use this online course to teach your workers how to safely work in confined spaces, while meeting OSHA standards.
