Overview

This online video training educates viewers about the Best management Practices (BMPs) for protecting the storm sewer system from pollution when working over or near surface waters. This video explains the importance of pollution prevention and gives examples of the various types of pollutants and different methods for limiting the risk and managing the situation if a spill, leak, or drip occurs. Working over or near surface waters creates a higher risk of contamination and less opportunity to correct errors if a spill occurs.

Most risks of storm sewer pollution can be managed by good housekeeping practices. This video explains the practices to use, such as spill prevention, appropriate containment, and proper cleanup in the event of a spill. This training teaches employees why certain practices may be required at their facility and educates them on other practices they may come across at other sites.

Employees who learn how to appropriately work with hazardous materials to prevent storm water contamination and who understand the importance of following the procedures are less likely to deviate from the proper procedures. Use this training so employees know the best practices for protecting our storm sewer systems.
