OSHA estimates more than 100,000 employees in general industry and more than 2 million construction workers are exposed to crystalline silica while on the job each year. When reduced to a dust by cutting or grinding, crystalline silica, referred to as respirable crystalline silica, can create severe health problems for anyone who breathes it.

It is essential manufacturing and construction workers gain awareness and understanding of the hazards of crystalline silica and the OSHA regulations created to help protect them from these hazards.
