Five million people a year have experienced work related non-fatal injuries, illness, or accidents. This course features four individuals who have experienced or witnessed a workplace accident. The course discusses why it so important to practice workplace safety.

Explained in the video is the importance of attending work safety meetings, adhering to and enforcing the rules. The four stories told in the video serve as a reminder of how imperative work safety is and how one accident can change your life. The course instructs viewers to wear their personal protective equipment while they are on the job. A small percentage of workplace accidents end tragically, as depicted in the final story about a maintenance worker who may have contributed to his co-workers tragic fall while on the job. He explains what he could have done differently and how the accident has changed his perception about workplace protection.

The personal accounts highlighted in the course are cautionary tales of what can happen when workplace safety rules are ignored or not taken seriously. Complacency and not wearing personal protective equipment are two factors contributing to workplace accidents. After viewing this video learners will come away with a better understanding of why it is important to apply safe work practices on the job.
