Through realistic, work-based scenarios, this course puts proven leadership strategies into practice, helping new supervisors understand what changes when they move from peer to manager. Participants learn how to prepare mentally for their new role, anticipate a wide range of reactions from former peers, and recognize how their responsibilities and relationships will change.
Learners are also shown how to establish credibility as a manager by shifting from individual success to team success. The course provides practical tools for establishing credibility, handling pushback and resistance, and building trust and morale. Lastly, learners explore common pitfalls to avoid as a supervisor, such as overusing authority, pretending to have all the answers, or trying to do everything alone.
