Earn CEUs for Online Training Courses

Authorized Provider

Mastery Technologies Inc. has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102; (703)506-3275.

At Mastery Technologies we have recently received our renewal as an Authorized Provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). The renewal process consists of the completion of a lengthy application and a review by an IACET site visitor. The process reviews the way we design, develop, deliver and administer our training courses according to the most recent ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.
IACET became approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 2006, and was able to receive approval to convert the “IACET Criteria & Guidelines” to a national standard—the “ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard”. This standard formalizes quality assurance practices for creating educational programs qualified to award CEUs.
The standard is broken up into the following ten categories (as listed on IACET’s web site):

  1. Continuing Education and Training Organization
  2. Responsibility and Control
  3. The Learning Environment and Support Systems
  4. Learning Event Planning
  5. Learning Outcomes
  6. Planning and Instructional Personnel
  7. Content and Instructional Methods
  8. Assessment of Learning Outcomes
  9. System for Awarding CEUs and Maintaining Learner Records
  10. Program Evaluation

To say the application was rigorous might be a bit of an understatement. Improving the conformity of all our documentation of current processes and developing documentation for new processes was time-consuming, but valuable to our commitment to continuous improvement.
In preparation for our renewal we updated over 10% of learning outcomes for the existing CEU-eligible courses. This enables learners to get a clearer idea of the benefits and competencies gained from successfully completing a CEU course.
Mastery is proud to provide the workplace safety marketplace with training courses that meet this standard. Safety training helps workers prevent accidents and injuries, and Mastery is constantly searching for ways to provide quality programs and help organizations realize the benefits of training.
In completing this process we realized the profound impact the ANSI/IACET Standard could have on our own business. Furthermore, it seems as though having a national standard for continuing education programs, applicable to any discipline, may have greater implications on the training industry and even government-mandated training initiatives.
We plan to further explore this topic in future blog posts.
