Fall Protection for Construction Workers
Fall protection is one of the top ten most cited standards by OSHA. Not only does failing to meet standards put you at risk for some hefty fines, it puts everyone on the job at risk for serious injury. Those working in construction are particularly at risk for falling due to collapses or the lack of use of personal protective equipment and fall protection.
“Falls: Construction Fall Protection” demonstrates the use of both passive and active protection strategies as they are used at a construction site. Passive strategies such as, guard rails, safety nets, warning lines, controlled access zones and safety monitors are discussed. The use of personal fall restraint devices are discussed as an active strategy, especially for working at heights over six feet.
Workers must be able to recognize the hazards around the construction site, as well as understand how to correctly use equipment for fall prevention.
