How To Avoid Forklift Accidents
Our everyday activities often become “second nature”. You no longer have to think about the action of brushing your teeth, or about the body mechanics involved in putting on your socks and shoes. When it comes to operating a forklift or powered industrial truck, safety procedures must become “second nature”. Developing bad habits or becoming accustomed to taking shortcuts puts you at risk for serious accidents/injuries.
Not convinced? Check out “High-Impact Forklift Safety (Graphic)” for a gruesome look at how improper forklift operation can lead to devastating injuries or death. This course uses re-enactments of the misuse of forklifts to demonstrate the importance of following all safety precautions.
The course covers the following topics:
- Types of forklift trucks
- Proper operation techniques
- Collisions
- Preventing injury to others
- Preventing injury to yourself
- Rated capacity
- Preventing tip overs
- Areas to inspect
“Forklift Safety: Stepback for Safety” also provides workers with training on OSHA’s safety standards and how to apply basic forklift safety skills to comply. This course demonstrates the Stability Triangle and helps workers understand forklift terminology. The video discusses equipment inspections and basic forklift operation. Use this course to impart the importance of an individual’s responsibility in keeping the workplace safe and accident-free.
Thanks for your blog post, its good to see the promotion of forklift safety and training. It is very important to train all forklift operators to be safe as it is their responsibility to keep everyone safe.
Agreed – safety training prevents injuries and saves lives! Thanks for reading!
Good post, far to many people think forklift safety is just a bit of fun. I hope your video convinces them otherwise!
Thanks – I agree, many people don’t take using equipment such as forklifts as seriously as they should. It is important to think of the dangers carelessness can create and the consequences you can avoid by using equipment properly and safely.
