Substance Abuse in the Workplace
Just as the title suggests there is a chance you have a co-worker who is abusing drugs or alcohol. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) states most adult drug and alcohol abusers work full or part-time. It may be the person you are working beside or a manager who you rarely interact with. Substance abuse can be a problem for anyone.
Some people use illicit drugs like cocaine or heroin, but alcohol is the most commonly abused substance. The scariest part of this is people who go to work under the influence of drugs and alcohol are more frequently involved in workplace accidents and deaths. These statistics are not provided to condemn anyone, only to say substance abuse is a problem comes to work and must be treated for everyone’s safety and well-being. The video training courses Substance Abuse: Dealing with Drug and Alcohol Abuse for Employees and Substance Abuse: Dealing with Drug and Alcohol Abuse for Managers and Supervisors explain methods to prevent, recognize and treat substance to keep your workplace safe.
