Workplace Safety: Mindless Tasks Need More Attention Than You Think

Safety should always be the number one priority at the workplace.  Alarmingly, thousands of employees and contractors are killed each year.  Accidents tend to be blamed as “wrong place, wrong time,” when the truth is these accidents are typically preventable and are often the same injuries and mishaps that happen time and time again.
This month, Mastery released a training course on the ten most common workplace injuries that continually occur, but can be prevented.  Though we may not realize we are putting ourselves at risk for injury, the course, “Safety Awareness: Safety’s Top Ten,” provides realistic scenarios that many of us can relate to.  Take the advice in this course to avoid injury at work, including:

  • Commit to working safely
  • Recognize risk factors
  • Pay attention to what your body is telling you
  • Wear proper clothing
  • Avoid complacency

Each day when we arrive at work, we are sometimes geared to perform seemingly mindless tasks.  These tasks, when not performed properly or without awareness, are what can jeopardize our health and well-being.  Supply this training course for you employees to heighten awareness and promote knowledge of workplace risk factors.

  1. Avoiding complacency is critical for workplace safety. Thank you for highlighting its importance – as good as you are at something, that’s always a risk it could go wrong. Employees need to keep safety in mind every day, not just at a safety meeting.
